Abraham Young EWING - Abraham Young
passed away in Bluffton, SC,
on Nov. 27, 2013, at the
age of 93. Born in Trenton, NJ,
to parents Louis Young and Dora (Steingrob) Young,
Mr. Young was a graduate of Bordentown
Military Academy,
Class of 1938. He was commissioned a second lieutenant at the start of World
War II. Abe graduated in one of the earliest classes of paratroopers, where he
proudly served as a first lieutenant and company commander in the 13th, 17th,
82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions for the duration of the war. Following the
war, Abe and his brother, Herman, became co-owners of the Veteran Meat Market,
and later, the Mr. Magic Car Wash and The Public Meat Market. Abe retired in
1986. Abe was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting. Throughout
his life, he played tennis, and enjoyed exercise and staying physically fit.
More than anything, Abe will be remembered for his devotion to his family. He
will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, uncle and friend. Abe is
survived by his four children, Betty Anne and husband, Mike, of Bluffton,
SC, Eleanor and husband, Delvin, of Ellicott City, MD,
and Georgetown, SC,
Gloria of Bluffton, SC, and Rick and wife, Debbie, of Lagrangeville,
NY. He is also survived by his eight
grandchildren, Kurt (Audrey) of Aurora, OH, Kate of Boston, MA, David (Deb) of
Cumberland, MD, Matt (Sarah) of Ellicott City, MD, Michael and fiance (MR), Danielle (Dan) of Chicago, IL, Nicole of
Boston, MA, and Melissa Sujevich (Brian) of Punta Gorda, FL; and 10 great-grandchildren. Married for 64
years, Abe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Virdee
Rainey; son, Robert Joseph; son-in-law, Tom Tomaszewski;
sister, Ida Kessel; and brother, Herman. Funeral
services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at
Orland's Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Rd.,
Ewing Township, NJ.
Burial will follow at Ewing Cemetery.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to calling hours from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. The family respectfully
requests memorial contributions be offered to the Robert Young Memorial
