MARSHALL, John Seymour: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice

John Seymour Marshall, 81, passed away on Wednesday (August 6, 2008). John was born to the late Harry and Gertrude Marshall on March 16, 1927 in Westbrook. John was one of five children, Mable, Stanton, Howard and Harry, all of whom are deceased. He attended Bordentown Military Academy in New Jersey and later served in the US Army from 1944-1951 in Europe. John made his home in Newington where he raised his family. He summered in Niantic at Black Point Beach where he loved to sail. His other hobbies included hiking, photography and reading historical books. He later moved to Manchester and retired from his job at Connecticut Printers after many years of employment. John is survived by his former wife, Martha Marshall of Newington and five children. Harry and his wife, Nancy of Ashford, Andy and his wife Cathy of Waterford, Catie and her husband Mark of East Haddam, David of Newington, and Jennifer and her husband Kevin of Wethersfield. He leaves four grandchildren, Jessie and Kevin Marshall and Tom and Molly Cavanaugh. Our family would like to thank the nursing staff of Manchester Memorial Hospital, 2 East, for the compassionate care given to John and his family in the end. Also, to VNA Hospice Care of Vernon. You were our angels in our time of need.
John's family will be honoring his last wishes with a private family burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in John's name to North Central Hospice Care, 8 Keynote Drive Vernon, CT 06066. ''Come let us walk into sunsets glow, into the dusty pink and golden sky and, when we get there, we will surely know that love, like beauty, grows and cannot die...''
