Stephen J. Sabo, 86, of Lawrenceville, NJ, entered
into God's care on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Stephen was born
in Bridgeport, CT,
to his parents, Stephen and Margaret Sabo. He moved to New Jersey at the age of 15, when he entered Bordentown
Military Institute in Bordentown ("BMI"). While
at BMI, he played football and was voted a member of the
All-State Football Team. After graduating, Stephen attended Lafayette University in Easton, PA,
prior to being drafted into the United States Army during his freshman
year. He served in the Army for two years during World War II, and was
honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant first class. After the war,
Stephen returned to Lafayette University and later attended Rutgers University. Stephen was a parishioner for 50 years of The
Church of Saint Ann in Lawrenceville, where he served as an usher and as a
member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Lawrence Kiwanis
Club, where he served as president for two years. Stephen loved politics and
was politically active in Lawrence Township. He enjoyed a career in sales, working for several
different companies throughout his life, with the last being Princeton Nassau
Conover Ford, where he retired in 2004. Stephen enjoyed vacationing at the
beaches of Long Beach
Island, NJ,
and the Outer Banks in North Carolina, although his most precious times were the times he spent
with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Margaret, Stephen is survived by his
loving wife of 60 years, Jean (Guidotti) Sabo; two
daughters and their spouses, Cynthia Passolino and
husband Paul, and Stephanie Oswald and husband Andrew; a son, Stephen Jr.; a
sister, Evelyn Stephan; four sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Donovan, Theresa Guidotti, Saundra Winslade and
husband Winston, and Margaret "Peg" Guidotti;
four grandchildren, Jessica L. Talar, Esq., Lisa
Wilkinson and husband Michael, Drew Oswald, and Matthew Passolino;
two great-grandchildren, Aiden Michael and Riley
Isabella Wilkinson, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at The
Church of Saint Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Rd., Lawrenceville., NJ 08648. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum in Hamilton. Relatives and friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Church of Saint Ann. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to The
