Walter Allan Lum Jr. February 19, 1941-November 13, 2015 Walter "Allan" Lum Jr., 74, passed away from cancer Friday, November 13, 2015 in his home surrounded by family. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Ingegerd "Inga" M. (Sandin) Lum, and his four children, Marita I. Sanders (Lum), Walter Allan Lum III, Karl Sandin Lum, and Yvonne M. Dixon (Lum). He also leaves 12 grandchildren, several cousins, and many friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Walter Allan Lum Sr. and Edith Albina Lum (Sundquist), and his brother Arthur Earl Lum. Allan was born and raised in Chatham, New Jersey and his family later moved to Chester, New Jersey. He attended Bordentown Military School. Allan met his wife, Ingegerd, in 1962 who came from Sweden to work as a nanny. They were married in Sweden in 1963. Allan worked for his family's business, Anco Bottle Gas Inc. In 1969 they moved to Reno, Nevada where Allan started his own landscape and pool business, Four Seasons, a very successful company that served the Reno-Sparks community for 45 years. Allan was a great athlete, competing in baseball, track and field, football, water skiing, and bowling. He also enjoyed stock car racing and later helping as a soccer referee. Allan loved animals and especially his childhood horse, Pal. He played the piano and the accordion, and most recently started learning to play the bells at St. Luke's Lutheran church, where he and his wife have been life long members. Allan was an active member of Vasa Order of America, a Scandinavian culture and education club. We would like to thank all family, friends, and those caring for Allan at Renown Oncology Department and Gentiva Hospice care. Allan wished for a private, family celebration of his life in his home.
